The Lariat collection takes its cues from the intimacy of fine jewelry, translating delicate forms and sculptural repetition into installations that inhabit architectural space. At Apparatus, Vivian led and collaborated on custom Lariat compositions across residential, hospitality, and commercial settings, from sweeping stairways and grand foyers to intimate dining rooms and offices. Each installation offered a new interpretation of the fixture, shaped by the proportions, movement, and atmosphere of its surroundings.
Vivian guided these projects from spatial planning through fabrication, developing layouts that allowed the fixtures to become part of the architecture rather than simply occupy it. Working within the constraints of each space, she resolved structural and technical challenges while preserving the rhythm and visual impact of the original design. The result was a series of site-specific compositions, each with its own character while remaining unmistakably Lariat.
Beyond the installations themselves, Vivian helped shape how the custom team brought these projects to life. She trained colleagues in SolidWorks workflows for creating precise, client-facing renders and spatial layouts, making it easier to communicate the experience of a fixture before it was built. She also developed standardized drawing templates and sheet formats that reduced drafting time by approximately 50%, allowing projects to move more fluidly from the first spatial study to the final stages of fabrication.
