Leading product development, Vivian translated the design vision into a production-ready piece, driving material exploration and finish development from initial experimentation through artisan execution. A custom blackened steel patina became a defining detail. Through chemical treatment recommendations, finish testing, and hands-on iteration, she developed a nuanced spectrum of blue and charcoal gray. Clearcoats, hand-applied waxes, and variations in sheen were explored to achieve the depth, luminosity, and organic richness envisioned for the piece, balancing the unpredictability of artisan techniques with the demands of production.

The cast glass top introduced another layer of complexity. Vivian coordinated directly with production partners to navigate graphite mold limitations and align artisan processes with development deadlines, preserving the integrity of the glassmaking process. The result brings two distinct material expressions into dialogue: the grounded presence of blackened steel and the fluidity of cast glass, united through a balance of craft, experimentation, and technical precision.
